Chess'n Math Association (CMA), Canada's National Scholastic Chess Organization, Announces the Super 20th Anniversary ChessFest

2005 CMA SCHOLASTIC INVITATIONAL

ELIGIBILITY: The top 20 Canadian students in each grade (by CMA rating on June 1, 2005.) from grades K-12. We use the grade you were in during the 2004-2005 school year. A number of players from the U.S. will also be invited so that the event is very competitive. A group of youngsters from the New York City Chess-in-the-Schools program are already registered!

DATES: August 19-21, 2005

WHERE: Hotel du Roy, 3630 boul Royal, Trois-Rivières 1-800-463-4620. Trois-Rivières is about 90 minutes east of Montreal.

SYSTEM: 13 Sections from Kindergarten to grade 12. 6-round swiss system in each section.

SCHEDULE:
Friday Aug. 19: Round 1 - 7 p.m.
Saturday Aug 20: Round 2 - 10 a.m.; Round 3 - 2 p.m.; Round 4 - 6 p.m.
Sunday Aug 21: Round 5 - 9 a.m.; Round 6 - 1 p.m. Awards Ceremony 4:30 p.m.

TIME CONTROL: 90 minutes + 5 second increment per player for the game. Clocks are sets are supplied.

LODGING: Lodging is available at the Hotel du Roy. We have special rates of $55 plus tax (1 room with 1 double bed) or $65 plus tax (1 room with 2 double beds). There is a small charge for additional people in the room. YOU MUST MENTION THE CHESS TOURNAMENT TO GET THESE RATES. Reserve early as there are only 100 rooms. Motels are also available nearby.

ENTRY FEE: $50. Players must be registered and entry fee paid no later than August 15, 2005. Those who register after this date will be charged $75.

$ amounts are in Canadian dollars. For the rooms it works out to $55 U.S. and $65 U.S. tax included. Entry Fee is $40 U.S.
