Grandmaster Nick de Firmian

GM Nick De Firmian was born July 26th, 1957 and is a three-time U.S. Champion - in 1987, 1995, 1999. (1995, tied with GM Patrick Wolff and GM Alexander Ivanov). He currently resides in Denmark. Nick has represented the United States at several Interzonals (a qualifying stage for the World Championship) and FIDE Olympiads, including the 1996 event in Yerevan, Armenia. Nick also worked with the IBM Deep Blue team in 1997, prior to the match with Garry Kasparov. He has written and revised the weighty Modern Chess Openings.
